Social Media Tips for Promoting Event Tickets

What tickts does before you post, the three posts that sell tickets, where the link goes on each network, how to see what worked, and the ask that costs nothing.

Social media sells tickets when it does one thing well: puts a link in front of the right people at a moment they can act on it. Everything else, the follower counts, the reels, the hashtags, is either in service of that or a hobby. This guide is the short version for an organiser with a real event and a real evening to spare, with the bits tickts does for you marked as such.

What tickts does for you before you post

  • The link unfurls properly. Share an event link on WhatsApp, Messenger, Facebook, X, iMessage or LinkedIn and tickts has already built a branded 1200 by 675 preview card from your artwork, so it lands as a picture with a title, not a bare address. Nothing to switch on.
  • One page for everything. Your public organiser page lists every live event you have, so your bio link never goes stale. Find it under Share my page on the Events tab, with one-tap sharing to WhatsApp, Facebook and email, and a QR code for print that always points at whatever is on sale.
  • A poster with a QR for every event, ready to print or post as an image.
  • A share bar on the event page so buyers can send it to friends in one tap. The people who just bought are your best advertising, and they are already on the page.

The three posts that matter

PostWhenWhat it says
The announcementThe day you publishWhat, when, where, how much, and the exact moment tickets open if they are not open yet
The reason to buy nowWhen something is trueEarly Bird ends Sunday. 40 left. Members get in first. A real number and a real date
The reminderThe week ofThis Saturday. Doors 7. Here is the link. Show the poster again

Everything between those three is optional. If you have the time and the pictures, post them; if you do not, these three with the link will outsell a month of content with no link.

  • Instagram does not link from a post, so the bio link is your organiser page and every post says "link in bio". Stories can carry a link sticker; use it.
  • Facebook links from a post, and a Facebook event with your tickts link as the ticket URL puts you in people's calendars. Ask the venue and the act to share it.
  • WhatsApp is where most local tickets are actually sold: a message in a group with the link unfurls into your card. Ask ten people to forward it.
  • X and LinkedIn link from a post and unfurl the card. Useful for talks, professional events and anything with a speaker who has a following.

Measuring what worked

On Growth and above, the conversion funnel in Analytics shows page views, started checkouts and orders per event, and the audience geography panel shows which towns your buyers came from, so a post that reached the wrong town shows up. Give a partner or a sponsor a dedicated link and their sales appear against it in the seller links report. Compare what you posted with when the orders came in; the answer is usually one channel and one hour.

The ask that costs nothing

The confirmation page and the event page both make it one tap to share the event. Put the same ask in your first email to buyers: "Going with friends? Send them this." A buyer forwarding the link to three people is worth more than a thousand impressions, and on tickts the link they forward is one that unfurls into your poster.

If you only do one thing

Put the event link in a WhatsApp message to the twenty people most likely to come, and ask each of them to forward it to two more. Then post the announcement everywhere else with the same link.

Things not to do

  • Post a promo code in public. It is a price cut everyone takes and a lesson to wait for the next one.
  • Announce before the on-sale moment is set. "Tickets soon" is a reason to scroll past; "Friday 10am" is a reason to come back.
  • Fake scarcity. If the page says sold out it must be sold out. On tickts the availability labels are honest by design, so let your posts be too.
