The only cost is Stripe's standard card processing fee (1.5% + 20p per UK card), which goes to Stripe, not to tickts, and comes out of the ticket price.

No. There is a free tickts Scanner app for iOS and Android, or you can send volunteers a magic link that opens the scanner in their phone browser with no app or login. They are scanning QR codes in seconds.
